Hello hello! Here is my product roadmap at a high level. The format is pretty neat since it helps set priorities on a fuzzy timeline of current, short, and long term, that way you don’t commit to a hard date that might not match the work that will be needed. In other words, I’m setting up some realistic objectives that I can pursue right now while allowing flexibility on the timeline for future items (i.e. develop the basic functionality first, leave special character selection for later).

I have decided to develop my product backlog on Jira. I love Trello for small jobs, but this time I want to have something more structured, even if it’s a little overkill since we’re a grand total of two team members. At first I was going to go with Asana, but it doesn’t have an easy epic/user story/backlog pipeline. I also decided not to publish my backlog here, I don’t want to give myself away that much :). I haven’t decided if I’ll do one- or two-week sprints, but it won’t be any longer than that. I’m already doing weekly sprints for professional development projects so I might stick with that.

While I’m thinking about this, I think I’ll write a post about my experience with the 12-Week Year Format, it’s empowering to see how much I’ve done in only six weeks (endless runner in Unreal, match-3 in Unity, product management documentation for my own app, and learning illustration basics, woo!).
